at Dentalcare AmershamGet beautiful, straight teeth with Invisalign
Invisalign braces are the new way to straighten teeth. Invisalign are different because they don’t use brackets, wires or elastics to straighten teeth. Instead, Invisalign use clear aligners. These braces are made from thin, clear plastic which are moulded to sit over the top of your teeth so that they appear practically invisible to everyone else. Nobody needs to know that you’re having your teeth straightened unless you want to tell them!
Patients throughout Amersham, Buckinghamshire and beyond love Invisalign because they straighten teeth invisibly. They are also removable braces, meaning you take them out to eat, drink and brush your teeth. Invisalign braces work quickly to straighten teeth, with most patients find that they complete their treatment within 12 months.

How Invisalign braces work
During your first appointment, we will scan your teeth to show 3D images of your teeth. This will form the basis of your Invisalign treatment plan and will be used to make your series of personal clear aligners.
On a weekly basis, you change your aligners to the next set in the series. You do this to allow for the gradual movements in your teeth.
Your 3D images and Invisalign treatment plan will show you upfront how your teeth will move on a weekly basis and this will give you an indication for how long you need to wear your aligners for to get straight teeth.
In order for your teeth straightening treatment to be effective, it is important that you wear your Invisalign braces for a minimum of 22 hours a day and so we recommend that you only remove your aligners to eat, drink and brush your teeth.

Frequently asked questions about Invisalign
Once I have got to the end of my series of clear aligners is that the end of my treatment?
Not quite! Once your teeth are straight and you and your dentist are happy with the results, we will look to make you a retainer brace in order to prevent your teeth from moving. Unfortunately, teeth do move, and we see many patients wanting to have their teeth straightened who have previously worn a brace when they were younger. We will custom make you a fixed wire retainer which can be worn on the back of your teeth to prevent movement, or we can make you a removable retainer which you wear at night.
Will Invisalign braces hurt?
Invisalign braces don’t hurt, but like all other treatments, they may take some getting used to in the beginning. You may find that your speech is initially affected as you adapt to wearing your clear aligners. This should settle down in a day or two. Likewise, you may find on the first day of wearing Invisalign and on the first day that you wear your new aligner in the series, your braces feel “tight” on your teeth. This is natural and means that your braces are working. Unlike traditional fixed braces, Invisalign doesn’t use brackets or metal wires, so you should not experience any discomfort from the braces rubbing against your gums. Most pati
Can all patients wear Invisalign?
Your dentist will need to assess your teeth to make sure that you are suitable. Most adults can wear Invisalign braces but in some severe orthodontic cases Invisalign may not be right for you. A severe overbite for example may not be treatable with Invisalign.
Invisalign are suitable for some teenagers but generally not children as their teeth and jaws are still growing.
